Authors: Mahrokh M. Kobeissi, Kala A. Christopherson, Annie Abraham, Marianne Fingerhood, Amy Ford, Kelly Gonzales, Nicole Kroll, Mary Pfieffer, Misty M. Richmond, Kelli Garber
Telehealth has transformed nurse practitioner clinical education. Preceptors can deploy structured educa tional mnemonics to guide student decision-making through traditional standards of care during virtual clinical supervision. Tele-GUIDE is an evidence-based tool developed through expert consensus by 10 nurse practitioner faculty appointed to the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties Telehealth and Preceptor Committees. Designed as a point-of-teaching reference, Tele-GUIDE addresses 9 components of preceptorship across 2 domains: student preparation and pedagogical guidance for the encounter. Tele-GUIDE assumes telehealth competency in the preceptor and addresses the sensory gap, regulatory compliance, documentation, and student competency evaluation unique to telehealth supervision.
