    3. when going over the checklist, jaocb did a very good job holding an evaluation over zoom for a concussion and what his next steps were going to be.

    1. I evaluated a patient with an ankle sprain. I did mention involving a doctor, but for in person b ut if available would’ve been a great healthcare worker to add into the call or refer too. It also would have been nice to have a movable camera to assess more of the patient instead of going off what they say.

In the athletic training setting, I think incorporating Mhealth and store and forward. Mhealth is a great way for the athletes that possibly where watches that track their vitals to have all the information in one place, but also share with the athletic trainers as this could be beneficial in a concussion protocol/return to play. Store and forward is also a great way to keep everyone involved in the treatment of a patient (coaches, possibly parents, physicians, strength coaches, dieticians, counselors, etc) involved and aware of all relevant information I would like to involve in the program.

Equipment for this could easily just be an application that the athletes and providers can have through a computer’s web browser but also an app on their phones for easier convenience so the only equipment necessary would be a computer or smartphone. mHEALTH could require more equipment (such as smart watches) if I used it for that, but I believe that mHEALTH can be used for other scenarios in the AT world that would not require more equipment than what is needed for store and forward.

Depending on the current setting you are involved in, the population you are targeting could be different. In a college setting, it would be an easy means of communication, especially because of the chaotic schedules. but in a high school setting, getting permission from parents and also including them in is important. but the main focus of all of these is to focus on sports-related injuries and return-to-play protocols within the team/population I am engaging with.

My role within the program would be to connect them with necessary resources but also answer and provide feedback on anything that relates to my work with them as well. but also evaluate the care at the end of every session or a quick survey that the app would present so that the athlete is satisfied with the help they received.

legal considerations are to make sure the program is secure and private so that no HIPAA violations occur, but also that all regulations are followed for the providers involved. This could also include considerations for those under the age of 18. I would also at the beginning of every school year/season a consent form would need to be obtained from each athlete (and possibly parent if they are under 18) to participate in this form of telehealth/healthcare.

protocols for any injury evaluations, a way to track rehabs or protocols for specific injuries such as concussion protocols or even a protocol for referrals to specific providers that are deemed necessary for injuries could be put in this as well to provide the best overall care to the patient
