Telehealth Model Selected:
Combination of Videoconferencing and Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM):
Type of Equipment:
Videoconferencing: High-resolution video and audio systems for preoperative and post operative assessments
RPM: Devices to monitor heart rate, oxygen saturation, and blood pressure postoperatively.
Population/Healthcare Issue:
Population: Rural and underserved populations with limited access to specialized anesthesia care.
Healthcare Issue: Managing preoperative assessments, anesthesia consultations, and post-op monitoring for surgical patients in remote areas.
Role in the Program:
As a CRNA: I would provide preoperative assessments via videoconferencing, review patient medical histories, and educate patients about anesthesia procedures. Postoperatively, I would monitor vital signs remotely through RPM and manage follow-up care for post-anesthesia recovery.
Program Evaluation:
Metrics:
Patient outcomes patient satisfaction, postoperative pain, and reduction in hospital readmissions.
Legal Considerations:
Ensuring all communication platforms are secure and patient data is protected while being compliant to HIPAA
State licensure: Understanding telehealth laws across state lines if providing care to patients in multiple states.
Involvement of Other Professions: Surgeons, Primary Care Physicians, and Pharmacists for post-operative care of the patient
Protocols Developed:
Preoperative and postoperative telehealth protocols for assessments and patient education.
Patient Consent: Online through apps such as MYCHART
