Using telehealth for children under 12 years old can be appropriate when caregivers use it to address common questions and/or concerns that arise between in-person appointments. For example, if a caregiver has questions/concerns regarding medication management or addressing common childhood ailments such as pink eye, warts or prolonged cough. For certain types of appointments using telehealth increases a families ability to access medical and mental health services, resources and supports. In these circumstances using telehealth broadens service accessibility and reduces barriers associated with finances, transportation (lack of support system, vehicle, gas, etc.), location (rural setting) and disability (illness, physical mobility, etc.) issues.
